Sirja and Chris traveled from Australia for their climbing elopement in Whistler, British Columbia. The timing was perfect. They had already planned a climbing adventure in Canada and we happened to be taking a trip to Squamish at the same time! This climbing elopement was the perfect mixture of love and adventure.

A Gondola Ride and Hiking in Whistler Mountains
This climbing elopement in Whistler was the ideal way to start marriage by experiencing a new part of the world. Sirja and Chris are from the Blue Mountains in Australia but were looking for the perfect opportunity to elope when our schedules overlapped during their climbing trip in Canada. They were down for the adventure and took our suggestions and guidance with smiles and excitement.
To see another adventure elopement, look at this North Cascades backpacking elopement.
The day began with the Peak2Peak gondola ride, where guests get to see and experience the immense valley and snowy mountain peaks of Whistler Blackcomb Resort. From there, we climbed to the ceremony location and Sirja and Chris helped each other get ready.
Alpine Climbing Elopement Adventure
Jeremy, the officiant at this climbing elopement, suggested the location. He specializes in mountain-top weddings and knows the best places to get a good view in Whistler. (Although, I think it would be pretty hard NOT to find a stunning view in Whistler). The place screams adventure. Whistler might be equally known for its climbing, mountain biking, and skiing but even hikers and backpackers will travel the world to see what British Columbia has to offer.
For Chris and Sirja, it was the perfect location to say vows. After helping each other get ready, they stood barefoot before snow-capped peaks while Jeremy performed their short and sweet ceremony. The climbing helmets were never far away and these two celebrated marriage in the best possible way – getting right back on the rock and then jumping into an alpine lake.
