When these two first reached out to us with the idea of a snowboard elopement, we knew they were awesome. OBVIOUSLY we want to photograph a bride and groom shredding down the mountain in full wedding attire. When the day came, it was every bit as epic as we had imagined.

This Snowboard Elopement was Totally Badass
I hope we get to do something like this again, because this was one of the most fun elopements we’ve ever shot. Brittany and Nick are total badasses on the slopes, and these photos of them tearing down the mountain in full wedding attire prove it. One of the coolest things about elopements is picking a location that will become a really special place for couples to revisit years down the road. In the case of Brittany and Nick, they picked a spot that they already had a lot of history with: Crystal Mountain, their go-to weekend escape to hit the slopes. The plan was to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain, do the ceremony up there, and then ride down with the newlyweds. We all knew the weather would be toss up in Washington in March, but we all agreed to roll with it whatever the case. As luck would have it, heavy winds caused the resort to close the Gondola for the day and we had to think on our feet for a backup ceremony location. We quickly found a secluded area with a backdrop of towering evergreens that looked perfect and all was good.
Note to brides and grooms eloping: Weather is always a gamble with adventurous outdoor elopements, but rarely is it a showstopper. If you just roll with the punches and embrace whatever the weather happens to be doing that day, it always ends up being every bit as fun and beautiful!

this blizzard elopement in the North Cascades
After a gorgeous first look in the forest, the intimate group gathered around for a heartfelt ceremony filled with lots of happy tears. It’s so cool that Brittany and Nick are going to be able to walk by the spot where they got married every time they go riding at the mountain. By the time the ceremony ended, the sun was out and only a few clouds lingered in a bluebird sky. It was time to go riding. I (Brandon) have been dying to get back on my snowboard, which I’ve regrettably neglected for the last couple years, so I was psyched to head out with Brittany and Nick. We had a mini photo sesh at the top of the lift, and then strapped in for the ride down. We only had enough time for one run before the lifts closed, but Brittany and Nick nailed it for the photos. At one point, I asked them to ride straight at me and at the last second cut a turn and spray me with snow and they couldn’t have done a more perfect job. Even in a wedding dress and tux, these guys can ride. Check out some of our fav pics from the day below. And if you’re a snowboarding couple that wants to elope PLEASE hit us up! This was way too much fun to only do once 😉
