SUMMER ELOPEMENT IN THE OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS
When Carrie and Henry first reached out to us about eloping in Washington in June, we told them to pack rain jackets and umbrellas – little did we know their elopement day would end up being the hottest day on record! While Seattle and Portland hit 105+ degrees, we lucked out with *slightly* cooler temps of 90 degrees out on the peninsula. (Thank goodness for that Salish Sea breeze!!) Despite the heat, this Olympic National Park elopement was one of the most stunning days we’ve experienced out there, with a peaceful ceremony in the forest and all-time banger of a sunset up in the mountains. Never a dull moment out in the ONP!! 🫶
A forested ceremony and a fiery sunset hike
With ice water, sunscreen, and sun umbrellas in tow, Carrie and Henry kicked off their wedding day with a first look and an intimate vow exchange led by Leslie Sundquist, one of our favorite local officiants. After the newlyweds said their “I do’s”, we wandered along the forest path, snapping photos and marveling at all of the different shades of moss draping from the trees. Carrie and Henry cuddled and danced, the sun glinting off Carrie’s golden hair wrap. These two had the BEST style, with celestial jewelry, black floral accents, and a polka dotted bowtie. And thanks to the amazing skills of Anne Timss, Carrie’s hair and makeup didn’t budge all day despite the sweltering temps!
As the sun started to lower and the breeze picked up, we headed up to the mountains for a sunset hike. After a toasty climb, we celebrated at the summit with champagne, surrounded by snow-capped peaks in every direction. While this area usually has lingering snow patches in June, the heat wave had melted everything extra early – no microspikes required this year! Instead, wildflowers were beginning to bloom and the alpine meadows were a vibrant green, turning to gold, then orange under the summer sun. We enjoyed a jacket-less hike down in the dark and ended the day with a late-night cake cutting (which was, as you probably guessed it, black!) and first dance at their Airbnb. Overall an incredible and fiery elopement adventure, in more ways than one! 😉🔥
