Welcome to our tiny home, rather tiny trailer, tour. Brandon and I drove from Boston to Virginia in May 2015 to pick up our 1972 Airstream Overlander. It had already been gutted, which was good for us since we wanted to build and customize the interior ourselves. First thing we did was take down the interior aluminum wall panels to remove all of the 40+ year old insulation and replaced the subfloor in the back. Once we had the walls reinstalled we laid down flooring and hand made all of the furniture. Neither of us had prior experience with construction or woodworking so it was definitely a learning experience filled with lots and lots of trial and error. It took us six months of 10 hour days to build the trailer but we are so glad we did it. There are definitely things that have broken, haven’t worked like we had hoped, and still need to be done (it’s a never ending project) but we really love our tiny home and are proud of what we have built together. Our Airstream is just as beautiful as the mountains we park it in, providing us with the inspiration we depend on for our work.
