Mt Rainier Engagement Photo Shoot with Three Excited Doggos
When Andi and Jordan mentioned that they wanted to bring their two dogs along for the engagement photo shoot, we were obviously very, very down for that. We love it when couples bring their pups along for the adventure. Plus, it usually means we’re bringing our dog, Aiko, along too. I think he likes adventuring in the mountains even more than we do. I mean, just look at those two happy dogs below! The third pup was already off exploring deep in the woods somewhere lol.

After meeting up at the trailhead, there was a mandatory 5-minute meet and greet between all the dogs. While the dogs sniffed each other’s butts and romped around, Andi and Jordan changed into their outfits for the photo shoot. When Andi pulled out her orange skirt we were in love! We are huge fans of bright pops of color in the wilderness. It always makes the photos look so good. And Jordan had a blue shirt that complimented her outfit perfectly. The dogs were anxiously waiting on the trail by this time, so we strapped on our cameras and began the hike a couple hours before sunset on a perfect summer evening.
Up to the Lookout with Knockout Views of Mt Rainier
Shortly after we started the hike, we knew the evening was going to be incredible. About ten minutes after leaving the trailhead, the trees opened up and we were smacked right in the face with a completely unobstructed view of Mt Rainier in all her glaciated glory. Damn, we’ll never get tired of admiring this mountain. As we were climbing switchbacks up to the summit, we spotted a perfectly perched rock that we had to stop at. Andi and Jordan climbed up and immediately looked 10x more epic. We took like 5000 photos and then kept hiking to reach the top for sunset.

When we got to the lookout, the dogs were already there waiting for us. Thanks for scouting it out dogs! There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sun was low on the horizon, promising a long and colorful summer sunset. We started the photo shoot off by cracking some beers and hanging out on the old fire lookout’s deck. In this part of the Cascades, Mt Rainier is by far the most impressive peak to be seen. But if you look around in every direction, you’ll see that you’re surrounded by layers upon layers of rugged mountain peaks that are not small by any means. Rainier is just humongous in comparison.
Sunset Gradient for Days: The Perfect End to an Incredible Mt Rainier Engagement Photo Shoot
As the skies started turning purple, we wandered around for more photos. The dogs were all about the photo shoot and tried to steal the show, but we still managed to snag a bunch of solo shots of Andi and Jordan. If you’re a couple reading this and wondering how it works with bringing dogs along, no matter how rambunctious and attached your pup is, we always get shots of just the two you (and we’ll also get solo shots of your dogs haha).

This was seriously one of the best sunsets we saw all summer long. The air was purple! Looking towards the sun it was orange and fiery. Looking away from the sun it was all a gradient of blues and purples. We couldn’t have asked for a better evening for this Mt Rainier engagement photo shoot. We came away with some of our favorite photos ever and got to play with a bunch of happy dogs. It was perfect.
