CATHEDRAL PARK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY | KYLE & VICTORIA | PORTLAND OUTDOOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Sooo Cathedral Park is really cool
Being wedding photographers in the PNW, we have no shortage of gorgeous places to photograph elopements and weddings. The gems just seem endless. And this one is conveniently right in Portland, Oregon. No travel necessary for Portland natives! Cathedral Park lies below the iconic St. John’s Bridge. It was built long before it was hip to have outdoor weddings in really cool places, but Cathedral Park is perfect for just that.
One glance and you can see why it’s called Cathedral Park. The supports for the bridge are massive Gothic arches that remind me of old cathedrals I saw when traveling around Germany. From the right vantage point, the arches perfectly align one after another, shrinking into the distance in a memorizing symmetrical display that would please Wes Anderson. This also makes it super photogenic. And being in beautiful Portland, Oregon, with a backdrop of forested evergreen hills, you really couldn’t ask for a better outdoor wedding ceremony location.
An intimate Portland ceremony
It’s no wonder why Kyle and Victoria chose to have their ceremony here. Word has it they were convinced after seeing one photo of the place. We’re in the same boat. We photograph a lot of stunning outdoor locations, and Cathedral Park firmly held its own.
The Park’s natural beauty was matched by a beautiful ceremony. It was an intimate gathering of Kyle and Victoria’s closest loved ones. Dwarfed by the towering arches overhead, the already small gathering seemed even more intimate.
After the ceremony, we snuck in a handful of solo shots with Kyle and Victoria around Cathedral Park before they hopped in a snazzy limo and cruised downtown to Urban Studio for the reception. Drinks were poured, incredible cakes were cut and devoured, and good vibes filled the air.
One Last Thing: We Did an Elopement Style Adventure Shoot with them the next day!
After a beautiful wedding, we doubled down and went out to the Oregon coast for an adventure shoot with Kyle and Victoria the very next day. The location was Cape Kiwanda, and if you haven’t seen pictures of this place yet, you need to. Between Cathedral Park and Cape Kiwanda, what a weekend!
And now Kyle and Victoria get to go to France…have fun guys!
The Foxes are Brandon and Gabi Fox, an adventurous husband and wife wedding and elopement photography team living full-time in their DIY renovated 1972 Airstream. They are loosely based in the Pacific Northwest, but travel for work and play throughout the western states. Their work is best described as candid photography that captures couples as they are, where they are, blending images of love and natural beauty in the great outdoors.
